I Believe in Rainbows...Faith & Hope are With Me

Hey there just wanted to say that I slowly getting back into my love of art & theater.
To all my friends and family,  I am regaining not only my passions once lost but, love of myself again. Being honest with myself meant letting go and surrendering to my shortcomings, my faults and frays and, let God lead me.
I want everyone to enjoy what I can give with my gifts.
Love you all...

Golden Goddess

Liisa Elder (C) 2011

This is another incomplete drawing of another "Goddess" I'm doing a few of these before I go to my next lesson so I have some to practice on when we add the next layer of paint. The best thing with art? You can change it anytime you want. Add, take away, erase...the "push" "pull" technique as Suzi says! Push to put things in the background, pull to bring it up...I still need to add more color and finish her hair...then this week I will be adding paint! Yay!

Art With Soul

Liisa Elder (c) 2011

Another of my many faces I'm continuing to work on, now using warm and cool colors, lots of layering with crosshatching method and building up the shading. The photo doesn't show the many colors I have used. Pinks, lavenders, greens, cream, Sienna brown, white and Tuscan red with graphite. This particular work is more dreamy and Goddess like. I am really enjoying this style of art, that really shows the soul and not necessary perfection. I will post my progress as I continue to work on these intriguing Goddess portraits.

I love Suzi Blu's Art Classes!

Suzi Blu's Les Petit Academy

I can't tell you how much Suzi my art teacher has inspired me. With her cool way of teaching and breaking down basics and having fun with color. My first class I took was the petit dolls class and learned so much more on what being an artist meant to me.
Art doesn't have to be perfect, or realistic! It just has to be from you! For Christmas my husband signed me up for The Goddess & Poet and class and I am loving it. I love to learn new techniques and improve my art skills. I now make time to draw every day. I just want to say thank you to my muse..."Suzi" Rocks!

I'm Here For You Journal Entry

What do you love and celebrate about yourself was the theme for this art journal entry. I just played with chalk, paint, and typed out a journal entry and pasted it into the painting. This entry took a few days, because of all the layering with the chalk, paint, rub-ons, stamps, chipboard and glitter.

Self Portrait Drawing

My attempt at a self portrait. I drew this in my journal then photocopied it onto hard cardstock so I could transfer it to a canvas. I will post pictures of the steps and many layers to come. I am enjoying this assignment!

Starting an Art Journal!

I am doing another assignment/project that consists of making an art journal. I purchase a Moleskine journal with blank paper and will be filling it everyday with something. It is just for me to have a place to escape & create. I covered the front with gesso, paper, chipboard, tissue paper. paint and stamps. The beauty of this I can keep adding favorite things to it making it a cherished keepsake! I will post pages as I continue on this journey! Enjoy!

Need More Art Supplies

It may not look like I need more art supplies but, I do need some Golden golden matte medium and some Golden medium paste. This will had some texture and roughness to the art journal I am working on. The art journal is a everyday book that I draw, paint, express myself in. A place to be free! I would suggest this to anyone, even if your not an artist. Just pick up a pencil and mark up the page with words, shapes, colors that you feel that day! Celebrate yourself!

Little Witch

I love this time of year...yes, Halloween so I created a fun little witch brewing stew. I drew everything here freehand and added a little poem that I made up. Layered warm colors of orange, golds, yellows and greens with some fun Stamping and glitter to top it off.
Prints are available for sale, please contact me for information.

Autumn Princess

This is a recent piece I call "Autumn Princess." I used warm colors that reminded me of Fall. I drew all the cut outs free hand like the bird and pumpkins. There a several different layers of paper, paints, stamps, jewels and glitter. I love her little crown with the hearts. I finished off by hanging the piece with ribbon and added a fabric rose. This is just one of my collection this year and will sell prints of this.

The Pink Mermaid

This is my "pink Mermaid" I'm working on at the moment!
Pinks, blues, lavenders, greens and golds....yummy! The background currently had four layers to it and counting! I learned these techniques from Suzi Blu's les petit academy, art classes! Have an artist inside? Let it out and take a class! I just finished Petite Dolls and thinking of taking another class! The Goddes & Poet!

I am having so much fun!

My Place to Create!

This is my art studio where I create everyday! From painting, drawing and using all mixed media fibers you can think of. I have to thank my husband for turning in this once storage shed into my get away where I can do what I love...create!
